Welcome to the first installment of the State of My Game Series. This is where I look back on the month and see exactly how my game progressed or regressed during the month.
January 2024 has not been good for my game. This month I was only able to play 27 holes and one 9-hole OP 27 Challenge. The snow hit and all I’ve been able to do is hit on the simulator. Now I know that I’m lucky to be able to hit on a simulator just about any time I would like, so I’m not complaining. But in my opinion, there is a huge difference between simulator golf and actual golf. I hope what I’ve been doing in the sim room will translate to the course when I’m able to get back out.
I have been working on my swing and I feel that I’ve figured out something. In transition, I cannot get my club face neutral enough to get any distance on any of my shots. This month, I’ve hit the range a ton on the simulator. During this range time, I’ve shortened my backswing and I’ve since been making better contact with the ball. This has given me 10-15 yards more distance, but I want to see it out on the course before I make the change permanent.
Before the snow hit, I was able to film a 9-hole challenge that will be coming out in February. I decided to play the forward tees and play a two-ball scramble. If you’d like to see how that turned out, you can find the videos beginning Thursday, February 1st on all my social media platforms.

Until next time, or until I see you on the course, thanks for reading! Take care!
