Something y’all probably didn’t know about me, is that before I got into content creation on social media, I had a blog for several years. I started my first blog in 2009 at the end of my tour in Iraq. I had found a blog written by a friend I knew from high school. I loved the fact that she used that platform to tell her story. At the time, I was in a better place than I had been in a while, but I was still going through some stuff. I thought what better way to work on myself than writing about it and getting it out of my head. I didn’t think many people would read it, but I thought if I was going through something, there might be someone else going through something similar and my thoughts and actions might just help them.
I started my first blog and called it The Divorced Dad Chronicles. I was able to write about stuff that I went through as a co-parent and as a single dad. Once my kid was older, the stuff I wanted to write about just didn’t fit with that name, so I changed the blog name to just my name. After a few years, I decided to jump into content creation on social media, and I put my writing on the back burner. During that time, I’ve wanted to get back into writing.
This year, I decided I would get back to my origins of content creation and start writing again. Now I know I’m not the best when it comes to putting perfect sentences together. I may mix passive and active voice, but my intentions are not to write the perfect “paper”. My hopes are that someone reads this blog and can overlook the grammar and spelling errors that MS Word doesn’t catch and maybe take a nugget of what I’m doing to help them in their golf game.
I have already written a few posts this year, but now I’m going to introduce y’all to a series that I’m going to call The Sandbagger Chronicles. In this series, I will be taking you through my journey in competitive amateur golf in preparation for my attempt at the Playing Ability Test. I took the PAT last year and didn’t feel any nervousness as I went to the first tee, but after carding a 13 on my first hole, I knew that some type of competitive golf might help me in being able to overcome some mental game stuff and get me ready for the PAT this year. I need to pass this test to get into the PGA PGM Associate Program so I can become a PGA Professional. That’s my journey!
If you want to follow along with my journey, don’t forget to bookmark this page and check back often!
Until next time, or until I see you on the course, thanks for reading! Take care!
